Which of these treatment options to try?

486 viewsCanine Arthritis Management

I have an 11 year old Bichon Frise. He has a grade 2 luxating patella and arthritis in his right knee. We’re managing it with hydrotherapy and joint supplements currently. He’s also a bit overweight and we’re trying to get a kilogram off him.

I would like to try another form of treatment alongside what we’re doing now but there are so many options: chiropractic, osteopathy, physio, acupuncture, massage, laser, myotherapy. It’s a minefield.

He doesn’t skip on it too much and when we had him examined by an orthopaedic specialist, we were told his right leg still has a lot of muscle. He has slowed down a lot however and tends to go quite stiff some days and then limps around.

Which of these treatment options/combination of these treatment options do you think would be good to try in the first instance?
