Does anyone have any recommendations for memory foam/orthopaedic beds? Looking to upgrade her bed for additional support but there’s a huge selection available across a wide price range.
She generally prefers a mattress bed rather than one with sides. She suffers with arthritis and cervical and lumbar spondylosis.

Important things to consider when choosing a supportive bed for your dog are:
- Can they lay out completely flat on it if they wish to?
- Does it give good support? (solid foam is generally preferable to crumb filled)
- Will your dog be able to get on and off it easily without any slip or trip risk?
- Is the bed easy to keep clean?
As has already been mentioned, always place the bed in an area free from draughts, free from obstructions or slip/trip hazards and with a non-slip/non-skid surface underneath.
I think they use the terms interchangeably – they have the memory foam header but then call them orthopaedic in the sections below. Probably helps with Google search engines or something!
Just looking at the dog dreamer beds. Do you have any idea what the difference is between the memory foam beds and the orthopaedic beds? I can’t figure it out!!! Thanks.
Ok, after a lot of research we went with the following: https://www.dogdreamer.co.uk/product-page/memory-foam-dog-mattress-heather-check-various-sizes
I preferred a solid mattress to a crumb fill as I felt it would be more supportive and stable, and the combination of a waterproof liner covered with a non-slippy washable fabric cover was very practical. Only had it a couple of days but the quality looks good and Betty seems to like it.
It’s also on sale at the moment, which also helped the decision as it made it considerably cheaper than similar beds.
We have Orvis beds and they are all very good, bit pricey but a good investment.
