Pain – can it affect appetite ?

Hi my Holly 11.5 years has arthritis and spondylitis – could pain she is in possibly in affect her appetite?  She’s had a bout of sickness is very tender in her abdomen is drinking a little but not eating.  Have an appt tomorrow for an ultrasound to see what else may be going on.  Currently she’s is only on yumove, was on Rimadyl but stopped that as liver levels were creeping up which are now okay due to takin Denmarin.  She’s extremely sleepy, obviously has no energy – not interested in eating possibly associating that with pain.  Hoping all is okay tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply Kirsty.  She’s perked up a bit the antibiotics made her more nauseous so we stopped them on Saturday and her bloods were taken which were okay.  Xx

Hello
Yes pain can affect many things, such as appetite, liveliness, willingness to engage or exercise. Hopefully the ultrasound tomorrow will give you some answers. Good luck x
