My nearly 10yr old Gwp x Springer rescue had an FHO about 5years ago and it has been a battle to get muscle on the hip he has had a bone spur grow since the operation,He is onsior once a day, He has hydro treadmill once a week and a massage once a month.My question is the harness i’m looking at is close to the hips see link does anyone think this would be painful for him?¬†https://www.orthopets.co.uk/mobility-solutions/help-emup/

The help-em up harness provides great all over body support but as you mentioned the bony spur may be an issue with this design. Have you asked if your vet or hydro centre have one which you can try out on him first? If this is not an option  it might be worth contacting the manufacturer directly and asking them. Depending on the level of support your dog needs the Ruffwear webmaster may work for your boy as it sits more centrally on the dog, avoiding the hip area.
