Elbow brace

Hi all, Heidi is a 5 year old German Shepherd x collie with elbow dysplasia. She had surgery at 2.5 years old for fragmented coronoid process. All was good until just before Christmas when she started to get stiff again and now limps permanently on right fore. I’ve being seeing vet, physio and she is having hydro once a week and on NSAIDS and RRA spray. Anyway she is awaiting an appointment at a orthopaedic referral vets to see what can be done for her…. right enough waffle and down to my question…. I’m wondering if an elbow brace would help her whilst we wait and wondered if anyone has any experience with them and recommends any? I’ve heard ortocanis are quite good? Any feedback would be great. I just want to help my girl feel more comfortable. I’m hating going through all this again 😥. Thanks xx

I was looking at elbow braces recently and ortocanis seemed to be the best option.  FirstCanine do one as well, which I prefer the design of as it doesn’t have the strap across the front of the chest so I think looks less restrictive.  I haven’t bought either yet so I’ll be interested in other replies.  Fly has arthritis in both elbows and has a constant limp on one front leg as a result.

Sorry I can’t offer any information on the brace but I have a 9 year old lab with elbow OA and I know how upsetting and frustrating it is so I wanted to reply.  Someone with some knowledge will answer soon I’m sure!

Thank you Bevd. I knew her Arthritis would be of an accelerated rate to dogs without issues but I didn’t expect it to be so soon. Fingers crossed the specialists can locate what the issue is. 9 is no age either really to have issues. It is heartbreaking xx
