Arthramid- research papers on canines?

652 viewsMedication

I’m looking for someone to point me in the right direction with regards to research papers on Arthramid, particularly when administered to canines. I’ve found a few articles online but the majority are in relation to equines and goats.

I’d like to have my 7 year old Rottweiler treated with Arthramid (moderate to severe OA in elbow) but I’d like to know a bit more about it first, such as whether steroid intra-articular are usually given at the same time?

thanks in advance!

Hi Franke

i know exactly your position as I was there myself a few months ago.  My 8 year old black lab also has moderately severe elbow OA.  I had heard a few miracle stories about Arthramid and was keen to give it a try as surgery isn’t really an option.  I even started a blog which I must update as there was so little information available online

Sadly for us it hasn’t been the miracle I was hoping for.  We are now 8 week down the line and I would say there is no change.  I don’t regret trying it at all as it’s not done any harm and there have been great results seen elsewhere.  Graham at East Midlands referrals is doing a trial on it in dogs and was very helpful when my own vet contacted him for information.  I hope this helps.
